The Basic Liquid: BiT™-Solution
The Binary Ionization Technology (BIT™) is a patented two-step process that activates and ionizes an EPA registered solution of 7.8% hydrogen peroxide. Thanks to the low concentration (under 8%) the BIT™-solution is not classified as a dangerous good. This fact allows the solution being shipped or transported without any restrictions - either in a vehicle, airplane or helicopter.
The Transforming Plasma Arc
The BIT™-solution is being sprayed between two high voltage electrodes generating a cold plasma arc. The resulting chemical process transforms the BIT™-solution into an unique gas-fog with extraordinary power turning 80% of the hydrogen peroxide into hydroxyl radicals. After this process there is only a small amount of max. 2.00% hydrogen peroxide left in the plasma-enhanced gas fog.
The Resulting Gas-Fog with Hydroxyl Radicals
The outcoming gas-fog, or more precisely the ionized hydrogen peroxide iHP™ is highly effective on a microbiological base. It damages pathogenic organisms through oxidation of proteins, carbohydrates, and lipids. This results in immediate cellular disruption and/or dysfunction of any germs, microbes, and viruses including the influenza virus and SARS-CoV-2. All of them are being killed or inactivated in 3 - 15 seconds. (This is a big difference to the well-known traditional vaporized hydrogen peroxide methods, which first have to overcome the catalase formation of the organisms in a time-consuming process.)
The gas texture of the iHP™ containing particles between 0.5 and 3 microns assures that even hard to reach corners and areas are treated, which is an advantage that no other conventional method can offer. So, it covers all the areas that no cleaning rack or UV-Lamp will ever reach.
The Big Advantage: Not Corrosive
With being not corrosive the SteraMist®-System offers an outstanding benefit. The iHP™ does not harm screws, bolts, or any other metal or aluminium part of the aircrafts structure. Also, valuable fabrics, textiles, hard and soft surfaces will not be compromised. There is no need to wipe or rinse the treated surfaces as it leaves no residues!
The Cockpit-Challenge: Accepted!
The disinfection of the sensitive cockpit is the biggest challenge. The Binary Ionization Technology BIT™ offers the advantages of being tested and approved for the airplanes.
